An existing blind flange should be identified from verified connection details and project requirements. A similar-looking plate or the same outside diameter does not establish a compatible replacement.
Collect connection information
Provide standard and edition, nominal size, rating, facing, material specification and grade, and the mating flange drawing. Include required bolt-hole details where the connection must be checked against existing equipment. Ask the responsible engineer to confirm the design conditions.
Identify modifications
State whether the item is a standard blind flange or has holes, ports, special machining or a project drawing. A modified item needs its own clearly agreed specification. Do not assume a catalogue photograph describes those changes or that a standard rating automatically covers a modified design.
Define the complete supply
Specify whether the quotation includes only the flange or also gaskets and bolting. Agree inspection records, marking, surface protection and packaging. Keep the final drawing revision and approved deviations with the order so the supplier and receiving team check the same item.
Common question
Can matching outside diameter prove a replacement fits? No. Review the complete interface, material, rating and project conditions. If existing markings are unclear, send readable photographs and verified measurements for review instead of guessing the designation.
